Old Nauru Stamps - New Nauru Stamps

The first Nauru stamps were overprints on Great Britain. Early Nauru stamps are popular for their overprint varieties. The 1924 freighter Nauru stamps are perhaps the most famous of all stamps from Nauru for their design and complexity of printing methods.

Nauru stamps and Nauru itself are threatened by success. Rich phosphate deposits are being mined and perhaps soon Nauru and Nauru stamps will be underwater. The Phosphate gets mined and the sea level rises and some day there may be no more Nauru. Perhaps Nauru stamps can survive the country as in philately the impossible is sometimes the possible.
