Bahamas Mint Stamps – Bahamas Used Stamps – Bahamas New Issue Stamps
Bahamas issued its first stamps in 1859 and today is one of the most popular stamp collecting areas. The most famous stamp is probably the flamingo issue of 1935 Scott #96. The flamingo bird stamp theme has been repeated over the years in the King George VI 1938 set and in their modern interpretation such as Scott #509 and #931.
In 1968 Bahamas issued one of the first golf stamps #272 and was in the forefront of attractive topical issued for birds, butterflies, reptiles, fish including #604-18A and other topical stamp issues.
The Columbus souvenir sheets which were issued in 1987 echo the 1942 King George VI overprints and other stamps of Bahamas which honor Columbus and his landfall.
Modern Bahamas stamp issues are increasingly difficult to obtain and prices are rising. We understand that the special delivery stamps issued in 1916 were for the convenience of Canadian visitors who often vacationed in the winter in Bahamas and needed special stamps for communication with their homes and offices in Canada.
New issue stamps are available from Herrick Stamp Company automatic new issue service or our illustrated stamp bulletins which are posted to our website, www.herrickstamp.com, every two weeks.
